The Fray has broken out of being just a local band and is well on its way to battle though the ranks of major label artists. The Fray was formed in spring of 2002 by Joe King and Isaac Slade when they ran into each other at a
local Guitar Center. King and Slade had gone to the same high school and for years their bands competed with each other. The two started collaborating informally but it wasn’t very long before the beginning of The Fray was formed.
The so called 'Unnamed Band' changed up its members
a couple of times before settling on today's incredible foursome.
The guys would put names into a hat and then pull them out and discuss
them. The name "The Fray" reportedly comes from jokes that the
band would battle out song composition together.
Their unique sound
and unparallel talent has gathered many fans, quickly due to word of mouth. With nearly no national exposure, one song on regular rotation on
KTCL, and a few mentions in Denver’s Westword paper The Fray
have been signed with Epic Records. The Fray has toured with
Weezer and Ben Folds.
